England Women international Keara Bennett: ‘Representing your country is a dream’

Just over two weeks to go until England Women head to Las Vegas! We caught up with Keara Bennett...

England Women international Keara Bennett believes ‘representing your country is a dream,’ as the side prepare to take on the Australia Jillaroos in Las Vegas in just over two weeks’ time (March 1).

Bennett has been part of the England setup since the last World Cup back in 2022 and is seen as one of the experienced figures in Stuart Barrow’s side at just 22-years-old.

The squad have their final training camp this weekend as preparations to take on the World Champions ramp up.

It’ll be an important weekend for us to be together and get some momentum, and just the whole excitement going into next couple of weeks,” said Bennett.

Bennett is a part of the Leeds Rhinos contingent including Izzy Northrop and Bella Sykes hoping to oust the Jillaroos at the Allegiant Stadium.

“I feel so proud that I get to hopefully take the field with Bella and Izzy representing the Rhinos girls so it’s exciting times,” exclaimed Bennett.

“At the moment Australia are the best team in the world so it’s going to be so competitive, the NRLW is thriving at the minute, but we just have focus on ourselves, they are only human, we can match them,” said the England hooker.

Despite her age, Bennett is well established in the England Women side and her family are delighted for yet another international call-up.

They were over moon for me, we’ve had a really tough couple of weeks for my family so it’s the news we needed,” said Bennett.

The blockbuster showdown is believed to be the first women’s international match to take place at the Allegiant Stadium with the squad well aware of the magnitude this fixture holds.

“It’s going to be so exciting, and it will be amazing for the development of Women’s Rugby League.”
